Annual Reports

The year 2017 was both a productive and rewarding year for CHAZ. The Preliminary results indicate that we achieved 100% for most of our health programmes targets and the financial audits were unqualified. In this report, the Board of Trustees approved the 2017-2021 Strategic Plan. We participated in a number of high profile local and international meetings called to discuss new programming in health service delivery. To note is the participation at the Global High Level HIV prevention coalition meeting in Geneva. We held the 44th General Council where five new applicants where admitted to the CHAZ membership.  
This report covers the period from January to December 2016. We started developing the new CHAZ Strategic Plan for the period of 2017- 2021 as the current one expired in December 2016. During this period of reporting, the number of people accessing HIV testing increased at both static and mobile clinics under CHAZ. We increased uptake of HTC in low performing districts and reached out to populations living beyond 5Km from the nearest health facilities. During the year, 201,038 people were tested for HIV showing a 23.4% increase in the number of people tested in 2015. Of these, 110,845 were females and 90,193 were males. Out of the 12,093 people who tested HIV positive in 2016, 5.9% were aged 15 and above; and 1.8% (179/9,649) were female children; 1.5% (127/10,540) were male children; 6.5% (2,085/32,220) were females aged 15 and above; and 6% (1,571/26,185) weremales aged 15 and above. Furthermore, it is also important to note that HIV positivity among pregnant women at our service delivery points has continued to decline over time. Over a period of five years, HIV positivity rate among pregnant women reduced from 5% in 2012 to 3% at the end of 2016. In the Adolescent Girls Accessing Prevention and Education (AGAPE) project, 16 schools were mapped and assessed, with their managers oriented in the selection of beneficiaries of the project, which is aimed at empowering disadvantaged adolescent girls, living in extremely poor households in three districts of zambia.
This report covers the period from January to December 2015. In this period, the 43rd General Council was held where a new Board of Trustees comprising seven members was elected. New partnerships such as the USAID through the new Safe Motherhood project to address issues of maternal and child health came on board. Our Supply Chain continued to offer complementary services to Medical stores Ltd, during this reporting period, we procured, stored and successfully distributed health and non-health commodities worth US$7.8 million with financial support mainly from the Global Fund to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. The overall performance of the CHAZ programmes was good with the average success rate of 89%. For instance, under the HIV counseling and Testing we met our target by 100% with all those counseled and tested receiving their results and we exceeded our target for those enrolled on ART by 132%. This report covers the period from January to December 2014. In this period, our ART enrolment rate was 184% over the target. Under the elimination of mother to child transmission (eMTCT) programme, we provided ARV prophylaxis to 3,062 HIV positive women. Furthermore, under the CART project we exceeded our VMMC target of 4,500 by 103%, the HIVTesting and Counseling (HTC) target of 33,000 by 105%. enrolment on ARTand PMTCT were 70% and 90% respectively. In addition, CHAZ had 63,911 on ART cumulatively by December 2014, thus reducing the AIDS case fatality rate by 77.3%. This report covers the period from January to December 2013. During the year, CHAZ hosted high profile events - the Africa Christian Health Association Platform in February, the CHAZ General Council and the official opening of the Pharmaceutical Warehouse in June. CHAZ embarked on a new project, The Health Systems Strengthening Initiative (HSSI). The programme supported by the Catholic Relief Services (CRS) and three other partners from the USA, St. Louis University (SLU), University of Notre Dame (UND) and Ascension Health. A total of 21,590 clients in cumulative care were reached under the PEPFAR supported ART programme and 9,349 were active on ART. In addition, 7,398 pregnant women were counseled and tested HIV during the year under review. In the same year, CHAZ admitted new members during the 42nd General Council bringing the general membership to 151. The year 2013 saw CHAZ receive the Award for laboratory support in Zambia presented by the Biomedical Society of Zambia.
This report covers the period from January to December 2012. This was a very important year for CHAZ as it was the second year of implementation of our 2011-015 Strategic Plan. The report further gives an update on how CHAZ provided ART medication to 73,573 clients and also provided PMTCT acheter viagra services to 8,547 HIV positive people and comprar viagra counseling and testing services to 67,294 clients. This report covers the period from January to December 2011. In this period, a new government was voted into office and pledged to continue supporting the work of the church in health sector. On May 4th of the same year, the long awaited signing of the memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Ministry of Health  (MOH) was signed. The signing of the meMOU signified CHAZ's renewal of its formal relationship with the Ministry as opposed to the last five yearss when the cooperation was based on an outdated (MOU). The year 2011 also marked the implementation of the 2011 to 2015 CHAZ strategic plan which was unveiled at the Churches Health Association's General Council meeting.
