St. Luke’s Mission Hospital Celebrates Golden Jubilee
St. Luke’ Mission Hospital celebrated fifty years of its existence on 13th June 2014 in Mpanshya, Rufunsa District.
The festival begun with Mass celebrated by His Excellency, Archbishop Julio Murat, who is also the Apostolic Nuncio to Zambia and Malawi.
In his homily, delivered at the Mission Hospital grounds, Apostolic Nuncio Julio Murat said Pope Francis was calling on Zambian Catholics to embrace and promote peace and unity in diversity.
The Archbishop added that the Holy See wants Zambian Catholics to continue leading exemplary lives and contribute meaningfully to national development.
Archbishop Murat further assured Zambians of the Catholic Church’s continued support to the country’s social sector especially health and education in a bid to reduce poverty and disease among the people.
Earlier, Community Development, Mother and Child Health Deputy Minister Ingrid Mphande disclosed that plans were underway to upgrade St. Luke’s Mpanshya Mission Hospital to a second level hospital. She also noted that despite the Mission Hospital being a first level referral center, the hospital is currently offering services of secondary level hospital.
The hospital was also commended for helping road traffic accidents victims on Great East Road.
Among the invited guests was the CHAZ Executive Director, Mrs. Karen Sichinga.
