Annual Report 2016

This report covers the period from January to December 2016. We started developing the new CHAZ Strategic Plan for the period of 2017- 2021 as the current one expired in December 2016. During this period of reporting, the number of people accessing HIV testing increased at both static and mobile clinics under CHAZ. We increased uptake of HTC in low performing districts and reached out to populations living beyond 5Km from the nearest health facilities. During the year, 201,038 people were tested for HIV showing a 23.4% increase in the number of people tested in 2015. Of these, 110,845 were females and 90,193 were males. Out of the 12,093 people who tested HIV positive in 2016, 5.9% were aged 15 and above; and 1.8% (179/9,649) were female children; 1.5% (127/10,540) were male children; 6.5% (2,085/32,220) were females aged 15 and above; and 6% (1,571/26,185) weremales aged 15 and above. Furthermore, it is also important to note that HIV positivity among pregnant women at our service delivery points has continued to decline over time. Over a period of five years, HIV positivity rate among pregnant women reduced from 5% in 2012 to 3% at the end of 2016. In the Adolescent Girls Accessing Prevention and Education (AGAPE) project, 16 schools were mapped and assessed, with their managers oriented in the selection of beneficiaries of the project, which is aimed at empowering disadvantaged adolescent girls, living in extremely poor households in three districts of zambia.
